Lake Crabtree Kayaking

We went kayaking on Lake Crabtree today. The day was just perfect. Not to hot not to cool. The lake was very calm with a light breeze. The lake is fairly small so we were able to paddle the entire lake. Along the way we got to see several blue herons and were able to get very close to them. It was so much fun that we just need to get out there again.

Kayaking on Jordan Lake

Today was our second adventure in kayaking. We headed over to Jordan Lake just outside of Raleigh North Carolina. A few years ago we went with a group kayaking at this same location but this time we took a few wrong turns so it took awhile to find the boat ramp. We were almost to Durham before we realized we were going the wrong direction. Once at the lake though we had a great time. There was a group in a kayaking class and a couple boarding their kayaks in search of ospreys and other critters. We leisurely paddle about the lake. Just across the lake from the boat ramp someone left a campfire burning unattended. As we passed we could see flames from the fire and decided to go ashore and douse the flames. We didn't have anything to carry water in so we used a discarded plastic bag filled with water to extinguish the blaze. I guess we did our duty for the day. We're hoping to get on the water again tomorrow.

This is where we put out the fire. Ooops, I guess I should have taken a picture of the fire.
